Oklahoma football: Sooners’ 2024 recruiting targets reflected at Under Armor Dallas camp

Several of the Oklahoma football program’s top 2024 recruiting targets showed why they are top future prospects at the Under Armor Next All-America Dallas camp this past weekend in Dallas.

QB Michael Hawkins and WR Bryant Vesco There are a couple of top targets that the Sooners hold particularly high and both were among future college stars who attended the Dallas Under Armor camp.

Dallas is one of several locations in major regions across the country that offer high school athletes the opportunity to “demonstrate abilities through position-specific football drills and combine training”.Under Armor Next Camp Series Website.

Hawkins and Vesco are both rated as four-star prospects and both are from the North Texas area (Hawkins from McKinney and Vesco from Midlothian).

Both were impressive in their workouts at the Dallas camp, and both received individual honors underpinning their performance measures. Hawkins was selected for the Accuracy Challenge Award, and Vesco was awarded wide receiver MVP honors.

According to Bryant Crews, staff writer at Sooners Wire, an OU-specific website affiliated with the USA Today Network:

“Wescoe dominated defensive backs with crisp routes, his size (6-foot, 2 inches) and his ability to bring down everything that came his way.”

Hawkins is ranked the 17th quarterback available in the class of 2024. Wescoe is the No. 13 wide receiver in the class nationally.

The Sooners are in stiff competition with TCU to land one or both prospects. Hawkins is expected to announce his commitment on April 8. Rivals, 247Sports and On3 are all speculating Hawkins will land with Oklahoma. If so, he would likely be the Sooners’ first commitment in the class of 2024.

Wescoe is also believed to be leaning towards OU, but the gap is not as stark as it is with Hawkins.
